Introduction to Interior Design Program

PROGRAM: INTERIOR DESIGN


Qualification Awarded
Interior Design students are awarded with an associate degree upon successful completion of their courses and fulfilling other requirements. Graduates of this program can work as a technician in public institutions by getting the title of Mekan Interior Design Technician gibi and they can find jobs in furniture production and decoration in private sector.

Admission Requirements
For admission to higher education, students must have taken the nationwide Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) or apply for the non-examination entrance examination. The Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) is held once a year by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are placed in the departments of Higher Education institutions according to the scores obtained from the Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) and their high school grade point averages.

Qualification Requirements
In order to complete the program successfully, it is necessary to pass all the courses in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS), to obtain a weighted GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and to successfully complete the internship based on industry.


Previous Learning
Students enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to demand recognition of their previous studies at different universities. New students must submit their own transcripts and course contents to the relevant department within the first week of the registration year in order to recognize their studies.

In 2017-2018 academic year, Interior Design started its activities as formal education. In 2018-2019 academic year, students were admitted to formal education. 40 students enroll in the Interior Design program each year.


Program Profile
Art and Design, culture, which forms the basis of social life, is a product of historical process. Interior Design is also in this area. Today, people develop and use original designs of their own culture and traditions by using aesthetics, functionality and technology together. Changing consumer needs and requirements; increases the production of "alternative art and design ürün products in the production systems of enterprises that want to take a place in the sector operating in the field of interior design. In today's world where quality and competition are intense and consumer needs change, occupational competencies gained importance for individuals to be employed in the field of Interior Design.
Muğla University Muğla Vocational School - Department of Materials and Material Processing Technologies - Interior Design Program; The aim of this course is to educate students in associate degree level equipped with professional knowledge appropriate to these characteristics, and to educate qualified professionals who have gained the necessary professional qualifications for enterprises that are currently lacking qualified personnel either by departmental lecturers or by countrywide researches.




Program Qualifications
1. To be able to read technical and professional drawings, to gain the ability of manual and computer-aided drawing and design.
2. To be able to make design, modeling, simulation and production processes with CAD-CAM programs.
3. To use CNC machines, to create the program and to gain the ability to manufacture and manufacture CNC machines.
4. To know the material, to know the production methods of the materials, to be able to distinguish the materials and to be able to apply the materials.
5. To know measurement, control tools and tools, to have the ability to use them and to contribute to the manufacturing process during and after production in quality control units.
6. In interior design, production, manufacturing of the main, auxiliary and complementary products used in the environment to be used, taking into account the environmental conditions, the material may occur on me by anticipating the necessary applications to make and apply.
7. To be aware of the importance of occupational health and safety in work life, to comply with the rules related to occupational health and safety at all times, to make risk analyzes related to the workbench-system-unit, to know what to do in case of emergency and first aid applications and when necessary be.
8. To be able to communicate with employees at all levels in the company and unit where they work, to have professional, social ethical values ​​and the ability to conduct necessary research using technological opportunities, to be able to take part in team work and to take individual responsibility when necessary
Examinations, Assessment and Grading
Each student has to attend lectures, applications, laboratory, projects, seminars, workshops, mid-term studies and graduation projects. Students who do not attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams of those courses. The students are required to repeat the course until they meet the attendance requirement in theoretical courses. Examinations are usually done in writing. However, the instructor may also decide to take an oral exam. According to the content of the courses, students can also be directed to the project work provided that it is indicated on the information form. The exams of the courses are given by the instructors. Make-up exams can be given to students who have an excuse with the approval of the related board within 15 days from the end date of the mid-term exam.

Graduate Employment
They can work as project staff in interior architecture offices, design departments of furniture factories, restoration firms, as drawing element or designer in architectural and engineering offices, as executive, executive assistant, authorized, controller in sectors such as model building offices etc.

Upgrading
If graduates succeed in the Vertical Transfer Exam (Vertical Transfer Exam is administered by OSYM). Graduated students may have the chance to have an undergraduate degree.
